Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met the Crown Prince of Kuwait on 25 September at Kuwait's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
What they discussed
- Expanding trade and investment between the two countries
- Recruiting more Bangladeshi workers in Kuwait
- Wider economic cooperation and exchange of skilled manpower
- Regional and international developments
Both leaders agreed to make the relationship deeper and more broad-based, with more high-level contact and tangible benefits for people in both countries. They also agreed to keep in regular communication on shared interests.
Why it matters
Kuwait is one of the main destinations for Bangladeshi migrant workers and an important source of remittances that support families across the country, including in Bikrampur. Kuwait was among three Gulf states that invited the Prime Minister for a future visit during the New York trip.
